Our Journey

Beyond Nomadism (BOND)

Empowering pastoralist communities of the Ateker fraternity through community-driven development, resilience building, and sustainable transformation.

A Vision Formalized

Beyond Nomadism (BOND) is a Kenyan-registered non-governmental organization, formally established in March 2024 under the NGO Coordination Board. The organization was founded by individuals with extensive personal and professional experience in development, humanitarian aid, and community empowerment who witnessed firsthand the struggles faced by nomadic and marginalized communities.

BOND emerged in response to global challenges such as poverty, inequality, lack of access to basic services, and environmental degradation. The founders recognized that issues like poverty, health disparities, lack of education, and environmental degradation are interconnected and require holistic solutions - understanding that addressing one aspect without considering others might not lead to sustainable change.

Our Approach

Community-Driven Development

Inspired by successful models of community development and empowerment from other ATEKER clusters, BOND adopts a community-driven approach to development with strategic programming across multiple sectors. The founders witnessed how interventions that prioritize education, healthcare, livelihood opportunities, and community participation can lead to positive and lasting change.

  • Peacebuilding
  • Governance
  • Food Security
  • Sustainable Livelihoods
  • Water & Sanitation
  • Health
  • Education
  • Land Rights Advocacy
  • Emergency Relief & Humanitarian Aid

All interventions are designed to be inclusive and transformative, incorporating cross-cutting themes such as gender equality, child participation, disability inclusion, protection, and conflict sensitivity. BOND operates on the principle of collaboration and empowerment, recognizing that lasting change is best achieved when communities are actively involved in the decision-making process.
